TrackAbout Track Part ThreePart 3 and B Part 3 and C Part 3 and D |
Part Three Section BIn a few hours everything we knew was consumed by the raging fires. No matter how hard we worked we could not beat back the flames. Airplanes and helicopters dumped water and chemicals on the flames but they only grew and grew, as if the chemicals meant to deplete their strength actually improved their viability. It was an awful day and we prayed we would find respite when the sun went down. Some rains fall faster if they are larger and heavier but they do not necessarily fill the holes in the Earth any faster than lighter rains for the waters must collect from as many different corners either way. Heavy rains may in fact soak into the Earth faster than lighter rains, hence, the runoff effect will be adjusted so that it all evens out in the end. At least, that was the argument we made before the scientific committee. |
